Personality: Taran was born to the outskirts of the White Forest where he can blend into his surroundings perfectly. He would have been considered a highly dangerous hunter there except for one thing; he mostly just waits for other predators to kill something that he can steal.  He's so good at avoiding attention that it took a very long time to even be discovered. He simply took the wrong hunter's prey and word traveled swiftly of a large bird in the area. After several instances of this occuring a Rider left out bait and waited for Taran to show himself. It turned out instead of a wild stryx he was actually tame. His keeper? A Caveling, a member of a small ground living race, had found him as an abandoned chick long ago. Between her and her friend, Elio, the two raised the gryph until he was full grown. The residents of White Forest wisely decided that this bird is in need of extra help to raise him properly (and to teach him some manners.) 

Taran seems to be acutely aware of the weather; knowing when storms are on their way. He also tends to harbor little if any aggressions around other stryx unless they have food and are small enough to intimidate. Though a stryx of any size unwilling to put up with his attempts can get him to back down quickly and wait until they're done with their meal before gobbling up whatevers left. Patient and calm, it is very hard to goad him into doing anything beyond bluffing and as such he is notoriously difficult to get to hunt. Around a bossy enough bird however, he tends to fall in line and listen to them.
